Niels Holm-Nielsen , is a Practice manager for a global technical assistance unit at the World Bank and Head of the Secretariat for the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery. He has over 20 years of experience in international development finance from the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank.

He has held various technical and operational positions at the World Bank covering disaster and climate risk management (DRM) work in the Middle East and North Africa, Africa, and Latin America and Caribbean regions.

For the past five years, he has also been the World Bank’s Global Technical Lead for Resilience and DRM, a role which focuses on supporting task teams and managers across the World Bank to achieve the highest possible technical quality of the services the World Bank officers its clients related to DRM. He holds a M.Sc. in political science from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
