Barjor Mehta has spent 40+ years working on a wide range of urban sector initiatives.He spent the first 20 years working for NGOs, consultancy firms, and academic institutions focused on slum upgrading, municipal management, regional development, and urban infrastructure projects, as well as teaching urban planning while living in Sri Lanka, Contributors Thailand, Bhutan, and India.

He has worked for the World Bank for more than 20 years involved in the design and implementation of country-wide local government programs, urban upgrading, municipal institutional development, and large urban infrastructure programs and projects while based in Washington, DC, Tanzania, India, China, and Singapore. Barjor is trained as an architect and urban planner.
