Author

Ivan Butina is a knowledge management professional and community builder. He started building communities in high school and has never stopped since then. He brought his community-building skills to the World Bank Group, where he worked for five years on community management, communities of practice (CoP), and knowledge management.

During this time, he first led a team that served the organization’s 200+ communities of practice and then established the community management team that supported the
30+ CoPs in the Global Social, Urban, Rural, and Resilience Practice. Currently, Ivan is knowledge management manager with UNICEF, where he has been leading the development and implementation of the organization’s first global knowledge management strategy.

Besides knowledge management and communities, Ivan is passionate about leadership development. He ensured the creation of a leadership development program for UNICEF’s young personnel, which he coordinates. Ivan holds a master of arts in international relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Baltimore, MD.
