Communities of Practice at the World Bank

Pascal Saura

Author | Senior Knowledge & Learning Officer – Climate Change

Pascal Saura has dedicated ten years to teaching literature in France and the United States, ten years to leading linguistic and cultural programs for the French government, and ten years to shaping knowledge and learning practices for international development.

With the Alliance Française, he connected millions of adult students with schools around the world while spearheading the AF FRAMES and MERLIN initiatives.

Since joining the World Bank in 2010, he has designed the first large-scale virtual forum of the organization, created the AskWater service desk, and developed the knowledge and learning strategy of the World Bank Climate Change Group, pursuing a lifelong effort to bridge the gap between what people know and what they do.

"This book is an essential companion to any large-scale change initiative in that it puts people back at the center of knowledge and learning technologies. What we need to navigate the questions and answers shaping our world are intelligent, agile, and purposeful communities that understand something about knowledge management."
